INFANT SURVIVORS OF ABORTION
"These terminated babies had problems, defects ... doctors said they were going to die anyway. Sure, I think it should have happened on its own, and maybe the Down's (syndrome) babies would have lived decent lives ... but some people don't want babies that aren't perfect and `normal.'" - employee at BC Women's Hospital
In 1999, the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency confirmed that a number of live births had taken place in British Columbia Hospitals after an abortion. These are cases where a baby survives the abortion procedure and lives...anywhere from a few minutes to longer. All of these children were issued birth certificates and death certificates - as they became "legal" persons in the eyes of the law.
Amazingly, the bulk of these live births occured at the British Columbia Women's Hospital. It shatters the view that abortion is merely the removal of "tissue" and that the fetus is a "non-person".
